Frequently Asked Questions

Renaissance is still in its early days, and we recognize that means there will naturally be many questions. As a new missions initiative within Mission Canada and the PAOC, we’re building something unique from the ground up: a movement at the intersection of creativity, theology, and mission. Because so much of Renaissance is pioneering and emerging, we invite curiosity and conversation. Your questions help shape this work, refine our approach, and strengthen the foundation of a movement we’re dreaming will impact artists and churches across Canada for years to come.

  • Renaissance Canada is a national creative outreach movement and institute equipping artists and churches to reawaken imagination through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We believe art is more than expression: it’s mission. Renaissance exists to resource, train, and send creative leaders who will reach artists and restore culture through beauty, truth, and faith.

  • Renaissance isn’t just another artist collective, it’s a movement of builders. We’re not only creating community; we’re creating infrastructure. We resource artists, coach churches, develop creative tools, and launch national projects that integrate artistry, theology, and mission. We’re calling artists not just to belong, but to build.

  • It means that our mission is twofold. The very heart of Renaissance is missional: to reach artists in bringing spiritual care, community, and discipleship to those shaping culture through creativity. The second thing that we are deeply passionate about is restoring culture: helping artists and churches collaborate to bring renewal to our world through beauty, truth, and goodness.

  • Renaissance is for:

    • Artists and creatives seeking to integrate faith and practice

    • Pastors and ministry leaders wanting to empower creatives in their church

    • Donors and supporters who believe the arts are vital to the Gospel’s witness in culture

    • Anyone passionate about seeing faith, artistry, and creativity united once again

  • We build pathways for outreach, artist connection & networking, creative formation, collaboration, and missional projects across Canada. We are currently in Phase 1 of Initiatives, Programs & Partnerships.

    • Creative Drop-In Pop-Ups: a mobile outreach model that aims to reach and meet artists where they are at and invite them into conversation about the arts and faith.

    • Mission Trips: creating opportunities for people to serve across Canada in a creative or artistic way, bringing beauty back into various communities. These include building renovation/restoration projects, hosting workshops or masterclasses, or training and equipping underserved communities creatively.

    • Creative Cohorts: monthly gatherings for creative leaders

    • The Well: networking and community dinners

    • Renaissance Creative Leadership Podcast: resourcing church leaders and artists alike

    • National projects: initiatives connecting artists, churches, and communities for renewal

  • Right now, Renaissance operates as a ministry led by a Mission Canada worker (me, Jessica) under the PAOC. All Renaissance initiatives from creative cohorts to regional gatherings to national projects, are expressions of my missionary work and vision. While Renaissance is not yet a standalone organization, we are actively laying the foundation for it to become its own nonprofit entity in the future. For now, think of Renaissance as a growing ministry movement with organizational structure in development.

  • Churches can partner with Renaissance through:

    • Hosting creative gatherings, workshops, or exhibitions

    • Sponsoring local artists and creative leaders

    • Receiving coaching on developing a thriving creative culture within their ministry

    • Supporting national Renaissance initiatives financially or prayerfully

  • Right now, Renaissance is funded through my work as a Mission Canada missionary with the PAOC. At this stage, I (Jessica) am the sole member running Renaissance, and the movement operates under my missionary appointment while we build the foundation for the future. All programming, initiatives, and resources you see under “Renaissance” are expressions of that missionary work, even though Renaissance itself is not yet a registered nonprofit.

We’re currently laying the groundwork to establish Renaissance as its own nonprofit organization, which will allow us to expand our impact, grow our team, and develop sustainable funding streams for artists and churches across Canada. Until then, your prayers, partnership, and financial support directly fuel the work and make this emerging movement possible.

  • Because we believe that beauty is prophetic. When artists flourish, the Church awakens. When art is redeemed, culture is restored. We’re here to see a move of God happen in the arts, in Canada, and beyond.
